Tnere is a Lexmark X5250 in the apt that runs on all X11 Window Systems, including GNU/Linux, FreeBSD, Cygwin, and even SUSE Linux running in an iSeries LPAR as well as Win98/Me/2000/XP/Server2003. It offers basic AIO functions, with no fax modem or ADF. It was very difficult to find the CJB5200EN.exe driver executable but if you execute and then let it run it will set everything up for your computer.

Paris Apartment Sabbatical Rental in Paris: beautiful 68 sq meter (750 sq ft) 13th arrondissement on the new METEOR line, 9 minutes from Chatelet and downtown; hi-rise two bedroom apartment on Avenue de Tolbiac at Baudricourt/rue de Javelot, marble lobby, elevators, resident concierge, typically rents for $2,350/month (including dual hi-speed internet connections) plus utilities, higher rates for less than 3 months. American style bathroom, totally remodeled, cable TV/DVD/CD, new modern kitchen with all new appliances (washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave, oven/range, fridge/freezer, vacuum cleaner). Garage available if needed. A Must See: gorgeous 5th floor expansive views of 13th arrondissement neighborhoods, palimpist artwork; Incredibly bright, quiet and cheery corner apt with large windows on both sides, exposures to west and north, electrically operated blinds. Plenty of work space and a high speed internet cable with multiple connections and an answering machine on the telephone.

100 paces to bus stops (lines 62 & 83) and 75 feet to groceries/wine at FranPrix. Inside the complex: restaurants and extensive shopping. 1 Block: public videotheque and library with open shelves, newspaper browsing, book checkout, Univ Paris I, art school, excellent Lycee (Claude Monet), grade school, kindergarten. Within 3 blocks: metro, 100s of stores and restaurants, Place d'Italie, movie center, park & playgrounds, sports complex, swimming pool, exercise studio. Free Parisian bikes (pay only deposit) just out front and great biking from here to the National Library and from there through Paris on the Seine all the way to the Tour Eiffel (new bikes for $150 or so at the MASSENA megastore nearby, and bike storage downstairs). Ours is one of the hot spots of Paris cosmopolitan development. The new METEOR underground rapid metro stop opened in 2007, one block from our door. It runs every 2-4 minutes. It takes you to National Library and PARIS RIVE GAUCHE district (1 minute), the new Cour Saint-Emilion entertainment district (3 minutes), CHATELET (8 minute), the LOUVRE (10 min: Pyramides) MADELEINE (11 min) and Saint Lazare (12 min). So our location is like living right in Paris center!!! Northern and western extensions are in the design stage. Our stop is one block down across from MacDo. Our complex, Les Olympiades, has a restaurant space, already new, is getting even more renovation with major funding by the Mairie because our arrondissement, the 13th, with the new Paris Rive Gauche next door to us, is an up and coming district.

On a more practical level, here are the instructions for the washer-dryer, which English speakers always seem to have trouble with

      rue de Chevreuse (Columbia Reid College): take 83 bus from in front of our apt and get off at rue de Assas, its 2 blocks from there. A bit further on is the GARDIN DE LUXEMBOURG, that bus stop is 3 blocks from the good restaurant block of Blvd Montparnasse, a few stops later gets you to the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales on Blvd Raspail, then the 83 crosses over to the Champs Elysees. Its our favorite bus line, and a beautiful ride.

Here is another panoramic shot of Paris at night. If you pan to the right, over the Seine (southeast of Notre Dame in the foreground), there are two apartment towers in the back, with a cloud above them. There is a red spot on the upper floor, right. Keep moving to the right till you see a cluster of nine very tall towers, the first four with red spots as well. The rightmost tower in this cluster is our apartment building. Our apartment faces out in this direction and toward Place d'Italy, Parc de Choissy, and Place d'Italie. When you take the Meteor at the station near our apartment, the high speed underground for the price of a metro ticket, you arrive here downtown near Notre Dame (actually, Chatelet) in 9 minutes!

The apartment also has cable internet through a Thompson Broadband cable modem with both a USB and an Ethernet connection, each can support a separate computer. There is also a standard NOOS modem that comes with the TV cable internet service.
