On a more sober
note, here's my Thought for the Day (well, the century really). This
is a graph of the population of the world from the year zero onwards.
The data are from a variety of
sources. The line is a fit to the equation dn/dt =
Cn^2 which gives us an estimate of how the population will
continue to grow. (Contrary to popular belief, the population of the
world is not growing exponentially. It's growing a great deal faster
than exponentially.)
Our ability to feed everyone using our current farming techniques under ideal conditions will end around 2020.
